Camera & Video Interfaces for Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)
Small form factors, flexible interfaces and good optical performance are important for many applications. For UAV it’s also a benefit if a camera system has antivibration features. With our AIVION Interface products, we do support various cameras that are used in UAV systems.
One important topic that needs to be considered is system latency. A video with a long latency can cause serious issues if the flight directives are depending on the video content. For that reason, we are also recommending systems that are using uncompressed video systems. That requires a significant computing performance and an interface with high data bandwidth.
Choosing the right camera depends on the needed specification. There are cameras with very good antivibration capabilities, cameras with excellent sensor resolutions and cameras with very good low light performances. Sometimes those needs are hard to combine.
Small camera blocks are usually light, sometimes they have mechanical anti-vibration features that are excellent. The disadvantage of a very small form factor can be the low light performance of the lens. Larger cameras with larger sensors might have a better low light performance but they are bigger and heavier.
The TL6032 interface is a HDTV USB 3.0 compliant video streaming capture solution from AIVION. As no analog to digital conversion is done on these modules, excellent output image quality is guaranteed.

When board temperature exceeds 80°C (176°F), red LED will be switched on.
In addition such an event can be signalled on connector J1/pin7 by setting switch 3 (temp alert enable) to ON position. - In case board temperature is equal to or over 80°C (176°F), level on J1/pin7 will be held constant low (< 0.4V)
- In case board temperature is less than 80°C (176°F), level on J1/pin7 will be high (> 2.4V)
Test Pattern Generator
TL7052 has an integrated test pattern generator (TPG) which can be operated independent of any camera. The TPG can be enabled by setting onboard switch number 4 to ON position and repowering the TL7052 board. In addition one out of two test pattern and one out of four video standards can be selected by setting onboard switches 1, 2 and 3 accordingly. The following tables summarize all details.
To enable TPG mode, please execute these steps:
1. Set video mode with switches 2 and 3
2. Set pattern with switch 1
3. Set switch 4 to ON to enable TPG mode
4. Switch TL7052 power off and on again
Note: TPG operation can be enabled with or without any camera connected to TL7052
Analog Video Output
TL7052 provides analog HDTV YPbPr and analog SDTV CVBS video output signals. These signals are directly taken from the camera.
In some camera modes no or only limited analog video output might be available. Please refer to the related camera documentation.
Reset Operation
When applying power to TL7052, the camera is also automatically powered. During power up all functions on TL7052, are reset and initialized.
During operation a manual reset can be applied by pulling pin no. 5 of connector J1 to 0V (GND). This resets also the camera.
Camera Control
Camera control can be done by connecting a PC or CCU via RS485, RS232 or serial 3.3V TTL interface to TL7052. The interface is passed through to the camera that all VISCA protocol based software can be used.

Overview Features FCB-EV9500L
High Resolution
Utilizing a 4M sensor and sharp lens achieve superior resolution and accurate image representation with the evolved AF/AE/ AWB functions even in low light environments. Combined with enhanced optical zoom achieve a high image quality
from the Wide end to the Tele end.
High Sensitivity
Through introduction of new cell structures and circuit technology, the series efficiently uses light, achieving twice the sensitivity compared to conventional image sensors. Consequently, clear images can be captured even during the
night and in dark environments.
Super Image Stabilizer
Enables capturing of highly precise video with reduced blurring even in harsh environments with strong vibrations by greatly improving blur suppression and image stabilizer. The camera is during full HD or HD output equipped with the
Super and Super modes. Applying a wide correction area using 4M pixels the camera series suppresses blurs from strong vibrations and rotational vibrations compared to conventional models.
Super
Suppresses strong vibrations with a wider correction area compared to conventional electronic vibration suppressors.
Super +
By employing a wider correction area than “Super,” “Super+” suppresses intense vibrations that cannot be suppressed with “Super.” Potential application: Shipboard, attachments for ITS surveillance, on bridges, drones, vehicles,
etc.
Starvis 1/1.8-type CMOS sensor
The Sony FCB-EV9500L Sony blockcamera is equipped with an approximately 417 million- effective-pixel, 1/1.8-type high sensitive, AR-coated (anti-reflective coating) CMOS sensor. With a high spectral sensitivity value in near infrared
to infrared, it is especially effective for security uses. Furthermore, the AR coating minimizes the ghost phenomenon and enables capturing of images without missing crucial information even during the night and in dark environments.
30x Enhanced Optical Zoom
Using a compact lens designed for resolutions up to 8M the camera maximizes the coverage of the 4M sensor. The newly designed lens provides high resolution and low aberration, making it capable of capturing high resolution images
that span from the Tele end from the screen center to the surrounding edges. There is no image deterioration using the 30x enhanced optical zoom. Experience full sharpness and dramatically reduced chromatic aberration in full
HD output and also achieve images with sharp resolution during 4M output.
Flare reduction with the new iris
Diamond flares and ghosts that occur on lenses disrupts focusing and deteriorates the image quality. The new lens adopts 7 blades compared to the conventional 2 blades, improving this phenomenon by generating fine circular flares,
and thus greatly improving image quality.
Color image acquisition during ICR ON
On conventional models, only black and white images are achieved while the IR cut filter was removed. The new ICR ON COLOR function enables the camera to capture shots with color even when the IR cut filter is removed. It is effective
for color visibility in dark environments. The precision of color reproduction varies depending on the light source and brightness.
Spot Focus · Spot AE · Spot AWB
Enables functioning of AF, AE, and AWB only in specified areas within the screen. Enables independent specification of any rectangle of the entire screen divided in 6 x 8. For example, if the subject location is specified with
Spot AE, enables capturing of images with Exposure effects reduced even if brightness changes occur outside the specified frame.
Adjustable ROIs
Screen divided in 6 x 8
Wide Dynamic Range (Wide-D)
Wide-D mode is a function for dividing an image into several blocks for correcting blocked-up shadows and blown-out highlights in accordance with the intensity difference. It enables image acquisition in which portions ranging
from dark to light can be recognized, even when capturing a subject with a large intensity difference that is backlit or includes extremely light regions of interest.
